CAPN co-organizes discussion on the Nepal Citizenship Bill 2081

A discussion on the Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill 2081 was organized on 1st August 2025 by सामाजिक लोकतन्त्रका लागि ऐक्यबद्धता नेपाल (Solidarity for Social Democracy Nepal), Citizenship Affected People’s Network, Nepal (CAPN), and Himal Innovative Development and Research (HIDR), bringing together members of the House of Representatives, Provincial Parliamentarians, National Assembly members, and local government representatives.

Drawing from their legal advocacy work on gender equal nationality rights in Nepal, CAPN showcased video testimonies of impacted individuals. These testimonies shed light on the practical gaps in the current citizenship laws. Drawing from the lived experiences of impacted individuals and constitutional provisions, CAPN shared their recommendations for inclusive and meaningful amendments.
