Accompaniment Program

Through our accompaniment program, our grantees access guidance and resources that align with their professional and organisational development needs and priorities.

What is the accompaniment program?

The Accompaniment Program is designed for our grantee partners to access guidance and resources that support them in addressing their professional and organisational development needs and priorities.

In addition to the unrestricted and multi-year funding they receive, each of our grantee partner organizations is paired with an accompaniment team member—referred to as their “buddy”—who works with them provide tailored one-on-one support.

What falls under the accompaniment program?

We aim to first create a conducive environment for grantees to reflect on their organisational and professional development needs and interests. We then work with grantees to meet these needs through offering different‘ solutions ’that are tailored to their specific contexts and are on their terms.

The following four categories together make up the program:

Support mapping

A process to help each grantee partner reflect on their work organizational goals. The mapping tool assesses their current capacities, goals, and what support is needed to make them achievable.

Buddy support

Buddies are thoughtfully matched with grantee partners by considering factors such as their timezone, language, and professional background, with the aim of creating relationships that center on meeting grantees’ needs.

Bespoke support

This support is designed to strengthen core competencies that are a priority for the organization’s development and resilience or the leaders’ professional development. Together with their buddy, grantee partners identify a core need and develop an action plan to address it. Where this requires financial support, the Fund may provide a small targeted grant to support the grantee to implement the plan and address the need.

Learning program

The learning program is a core pillar of the accompaniment support, developed by professionals in response to needs identified through the support mapping process and is guided by three foundational principles:

  • A participant experience that meaning is meaningful and worthwhile.
  • Needs-based content and implementation that addresses priority gaps
  • Sustainable learning structures that continue to benefit grantee partners beyond the program.

Our team

The accompaniment team is made up of members of the Global Statelessness Fund, the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion, the Global Campaign on Equal Nationality Rights, and the Global Movement Against Statelessness.

Together, we support our grantee partners as their ‘buddies,’ develop and implement the learning program, and work to identify further organizational and leadership development opportunities for our grantee partner community.
