The Global Statelessness Fund launch event was held online on January 16th, 2025 with the contributions of our grantee partners, Steering Group members, donors and partners, and staff members. Members of civil society organizations, professionals in the philanthropic sector, academics, and those interested in statelessness participated in this event to celebrate our launch and get to know the Fund. During the event, Jawad Fairooz from Salam for Democracy and Human Rights talked about their work against statelessness in the Gulf and their experience as a grantee of the Global Statelessness Fund.
SALAM for Democracy and Human Rights (SALAM DHR) is an NGO that endeavors to preserve universal principles of dignity and respect by shielding democracy and human rights. SALAM DHR undertakes research & advocacy, mainly in relation to Bahrain, but also the Gulf, the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region & in relation to thematic issues, notably statelessness. In the pursuit of this vision, SALAM DHR engages with other NGOs and frequently acts in coalition with others to achieve specific targets or outcomes. They engage with intergovernmental organizations and states to bring about socio-political reform and ever-improving adherence by states to international human rights standards & practices.
