The Global Statelessness Fund launch event was held online on January 16th, 2025 with the contributions of our grantee partners, Steering Group members, donors and partners, and staff members. Members of civil society organizations, professionals in the philanthropic sector, academics, and those interested in statelessness participated in this event to celebrate our launch and get to know the Fund. During the event, Elvis Beriša from Walk with us- Phiren Amenca talked about their work with stateless individuals and the Roma community in Montenegro and their experience as a grantee of the Global Statelessness Fund.
Walk with us – Phiren Amenca is a network of Roma and non-Roma volunteers and voluntary service organizations creating opportunities for non-formal education, dialogue, and engagement, in order to challenge stereotypes and racism. Phiren Amenca network supports and encourages volunteers in this non-formal learning experience through seminars on intercultural learning, conflict management, Roma history and cultures, civil rights activism, as well as discrimination, mechanisms of exclusion, antigypsyism, and extremist movements today. They work closely with Roma communities in Montenegro in their struggle for legal status and documentation.
