Apatride Network is an EU-based stateless-led organization that raises awareness about statelessness and secures practical solutions for the benefit of the 400,000+ stateless people within the EU, and globally.
In May 2025, Apatride Network provided input to the European Banking Authority (EBA) on regulatory technical standards (RTS) under a developing European Union framework. In January 2026, EBA positively responded to the input and adjusted the RTS to introduce several systemic shifts which significantly advance the financial inclusion of stateless people in the EU.
Apatride Network shared that the revised standards now recognize statelessness as a valid identification category, accept forms of identity other than passports, and explicitly recognize the financial exclusion of vulnerable clients as a regulatory risk in its own right. Building on this strategic win, Apatride Network will continue to work with banks to share best practices and tackle further barriers to the financial inclusion and participation of stateless and undocumented people.
Apatride Network is a grantee partner of the Global Statelessness Fund. You can learn more about their work on their partner profile and website.
