GSF at the UNHCR Regional Consultation with NGOs in Asia-Pacific

On 18 September 2025, Sabine Larribeau, Manager of the Global Statelessness Fund, spoke at a panel discussion during the UNHCR Regional Consultation with NGOs in the Asia-Pacific region. The session, titled “Financing and Sustainability in the Asia-Pacific,” explored how financing dynamics shape civil society engagement in the region.

The panel brought together representatives from the Global Statelessness Fund, ICVA, Cisarua Learning Ltd, and UNHCR, and highlighted the growing need to diversify funding sources in a context where traditional humanitarian financing is in decline. The importance of supporting refugee- and stateless-led organizations, as well as grassroots initiatives to ensure equitable and sustainable impact was emphasized.

Key takeaways also included the critical role of pooled funding mechanisms, such as the Global Statelessness Fund, which provide multi-year, unrestricted support to community-led organizations.
