The European Network on Statelessness, a grantee partner of the Global Statelessness Fund, has worked with Statefree and Apatride Network to develop A Guide to Collaborative Advocacy on Statelessness. Created in response to conversations with people affected by statelessness who often feel excluded from advocacy spaces, the Guide offers practical support for individuals and communities who want to understand, shape and lead advocacy. It includes a step-by-step advocacy process, six principles for meaningful collaboration, guidance for allies and institutions on removing barriers to participation, and practical approaches to participatory monitoring, evaluation and learning.
At the heart of the Guide is the recognition that lived experience is expertise. Rather than treating stateless people only as storytellers or participants, it encourages organisations and institutions to share power, build trust and create the conditions for affected communities to influence decisions and lead change. Through this work, the European Network on Statelessness continues its wider commitment to ending statelessness and securing the rights of stateless people through community engagement, research, campaigning, and legal and policy advocacy.
