Hafsar Tameesuddin

Hafsar Tameesuddin is a Technical Advisor for the Global Statelessness Fund. Hafsar provides mentoring and technical advice for the Fund Manager and team, contributes to the development of policies, procedures and tools for the Fund, and supports fundraising and awareness raising efforts.

Hafsar is a social worker, human rights defender and Rohingya activist. They advocate for the rights of refugees, LGBTQI+ communities, statelessness, gender equality, prevention and response to SGBV and ending child marriages. Hafsar has more than a decade of experience working with refugee communities, INGOs and NGOs. They are an advisory member of the Global Movement of Statelessness and served as an interim Advisory member of the UNHCR Advisory Group.

Hafsar’s expertise, informed by their lived experience, includes understanding the ground realities of challenges faced by refugees, stateless and LGBTQ+ communities. They are a passionate advocate for shifting power, inclusion and diversity within systems. Their work and advocacy is centered on the improved prevention and response measures to SGBV, to promote and protect the rights of refugees, stateless people, asylum seekers, and LGBTQ+ communities in the Asia Pacific Region and beyond.
