Citizenship stripping in Kuwait: Briefing by SALAM DHR, Hawiati, and Rights Realization Centre

A briefing by SALAM DHR, Hawiati, and the Rights Realization Centre provides an overview of the mass citizenship revocation campaign carried out by the Government of Kuwait, which has stripped over 42,000 people of nationality by mid-2025

The report underlines that the campaign, which is politically motivated and disproportionately targets women, violates both Kuwaiti and international law. Thousands left stateless are deprived of healthcare, education, employment, property rights, and pensions.

The issuing organisations call for an immediate suspension of revocations and an independent review, as well as a path to recognition for the Bidoon community.
